Ballerino: Tyler Christopher Jay

Tyler is originally from the Twin Cities area. After graduating high school Tyler studied Musical Theater at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. He has performed at the renowned Guthrie Theater, and with Metropolitan Ballet where he danced as a soloist in performances of Swan lake, Sleeping Beauty, and The Nutcracker. From 2013 to 2015 he worked as a Ballet Master at Stella Dance Studio. Tyler is currently a freelance artist .

Ballerina: Erika Ellis

Erika started studying classical ballet at the age of six at Continental Ballet. After graduating high school in 2015, she began her first season with Continental Ballet Company as a professional dancer and assistant teacher. Some of her repertoire includes Clara in the Nutcracker, the peasant variation from Giselle, and Spanish from Swan Lake. Her first experience with Fringe was in 2013 when she performed with Cities Classical Dance Ensemble.

Ballerina: Haruna Asanuma

Haruna started her first classical ballet class at the Omaha Academy of Ballet in Omaha, Nebraska, where she trained for four years. She also danced in the Omaha Project for two years run by former ABT dancers, Jon Fagan and Sara Mau, where she danced original works by Jon Fagan, Michelle Garrity, and Sara Mau. She performed at the regional dance conference, American College Dance Festival Association 2009.

In 2010-2011, she studied abroad for one year in London to study at Laban Conservatoire of Contemporary Dance, where she studied under Sonia Rafferty, Jamie DryBourgh, Emma Redding, Glenn Wilkinson, Julia Gleich, and Hagit Yakira, where she trained in Release, Limon, and Cunningham techniques, as well as classical ballet and contemporary jazz.

In April of 2012, she worked with choreographer Marianna Batelli and performed in the Prospettiva Danza Teatro Competition in Padova, Italy.She recently received her BA (Hons) Dance Completion Award.For more information visit her individual gallery here.

Ballerina: Katherine Hesterberg

Katherine is from Wasilla, Alaska where she began her dance training at Anchorage Classical Ballet Academy/Dancer’s Workshop at the age of three.

From the years 2006-2010, she studied the classical technique of Cecchetti as well as tap and jazz, achieving a four-year BFA degree in ballet from Friends University in Kansas. During that time, she had the honor of working with artist such as Shawn Stevens from New York City Ballet and Dominic Walsh from Houston Ballet/Dominic Walsh Dance Theatre. With Friends University, she participated in the American College Dance Festival, Kansas Dance Festival, and also had the pleasure of sharing the stage with globally-known guest artists such as Wendy Whalen, Philip Neal, Frederica Vincisori, and Melody Herrera.

She has participated in summer programs with various ballet companies such as Alaska Dance Theatre, Atlanta Ballet, Ballet Tuscan, Atlanta Festival Ballet, and TU Dance. She has danced professionally and toured state-wide with Continental Ballet Company, St. Paul City Ballet, and Metropolitan Ballet; and has choreographed in the 2013 Minnesota Fringe Festival for Cities Classical Dance Ensemble.

Katherine is currently the Educational Director at North Ballet Academy, instructor at Legacy Dance Studio, and founder of Minneapolis Ballet Dancers. She has been devoted to the art of ballet for twenty-three years and is very excited for the future.
